she’s nothing but the jagged edges of broken glass
sometimes it seems like nothing beautiful lasts
once she was beautiful, once she was strong
but she shattered long before anyone knew what was wrong
she was nothing but pieces to cut and to steal
she was the winter that needed summer to heal
she’s only a girl of broken glass
counting years wasted, as they pass
once she was something she knew was good
but a flurry of pain left shatters where she once stood
the darkness was cloying, but the light showed her scars
so she kept to the shadows, she kept to the dark
she thought she had to be perfect, but that isn’t true
oh, doesn’t she know broken glass is beautiful too?
You never cease to amaze me my sweet, brave, inspiring and beautiful girl. God has truly blessed you with the gift of words and I so look forward to watching your journey unfold on the pages of this blog.
